Children's Home Celebrates 140 Years
This year marked the 140th anniversary of Children's Home of Stockton. What started as an orphanage and boarding home for children in 1882 has grown to become an incredible residential program for foster youth and homeless youth in our county. Throughout the 140 years CHS has always kept the mission of caring for youth and providing them an opportunity for a productive life in safe, nurturing environment.
The celebration took place at the incomparable Haggin Museum, a perfect setting for an exhibit displaying the rich history of CHS. The evening was highlighted with a program hosted by CEO Joelle Gomez with compelling personal stories from Victor French (resident at CHS from 1945-1955) and Donald Washington a current Transitional Age Youth in CHS' Catalyst program for at-risk homeless youth.
The 140th Celebration was an evening to remember!
