CHS Receives AHEAD Program Funding
October 6, 2020—Children’s Home of Stockton (CHS) is thrilled to be a recipient of the Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLBank) of San Francisco’s 2020 AHEAD Program Grant. CHS was awarded $37,500 to help with operating support and staff retention during the COVID-19 pandemic so it can continue to provide vital supportive services to youth.
The Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco awarded $3.5 million in grants to 97 nonprofits through its 2020 AHEAD Program. The grants, delivered by FHLBank San Francisco member financial institutions to nonprofits in Arizona, California, and Nevada, are aimed at providing both immediate and long-term pandemic relief and boosting economic development in lower-income communities. Members partner with nonprofits to use AHEAD grants to advance a variety of economic development initiatives, especially jobs-related programs targeted to underserved populations. BAC Community Bank is the member who helped to facilitate the grant process for Children’s Home of Stockton.
“This grant was made possible by the sponsorship of BAC,” said Joelle Gomez, Chief Executive Officer at Children’s Home of Stockton. “We are grateful to BAC and FHLBank of San Francisco for their consideration of funding in a time where it is needed to help preserve placement and continue vital services for the foster youth we serve.”
This year, the Bank reviewed 362 applications before selecting 97 AHEAD grant winners. “In this uniquely challenging and uncertain time, we are pleased that our members are partnering with us and with local organizations that bring special expertise to serving their communities,” said Stephen Traynor, Acting President and CEO of FHLBank San Francisco. “These grants will help meet urgent essential needs and also support the longer journey to recovery from the COVID-19 crisis.”
